I'll just bet..... You know, if he's really gone big into the church, he might have just left that part of his life behind, to the degree of not even acknowledging it to anyone, esp. if it was at all debauched, as I can certainly imagine it may have been, pretty boy hotdogger in the freewheeling 70s and all..... who knows? I mean, it's a fairly distinct name, if not unique.... the odds of another CF out there? I'd doubt it. I'll bet it's him. |

corky fowler Okay, I lied, the skiing Corky Fowler did not have an 'E' in his first name. I just found one of my books by him and sure enough; 'Corky Fowler' is the author. Still searching.... __________________ Skierpauli |

Hmmm, I guess you can't trust everything you Google or search for with the white pages anymore...What're the odds of two Corky Fowlers? Good enough, I guess! |

Corkey Fowler I am pretty sure the skiing Corkey Fowler did in fact have an 'E' in his name and the fellow from Texas does not. __________________ Skierpauli |

corkey fowler I checked on Dennis 'Corkey' Fowler in Texas and this is the reply I got: Paul - no problem but, no, I am not - wish I were - good hunting and skiing. Dennis 'Corky' Fowler __________________ Skierpauli |

Corky lives in Houston and is on the Board of Directors at the Houston Area Respite Center. He's also very active in the Methodist church, which you can see by this link: http://www.txcumc.org/page.asp?PKValue=728 He must be, what, early 60s now? I couldn't find a recent picture, but I've got TONS of old pix and ads and Ski/Skiing mag covers with him, quite a few instructional spreads in those mags, and old Hart skis ads with him and Suzy Chaffee from the late 1960s, a few years before she was Suzy Chapstick. I remember seeing him at the Boston Ski Show in Nov. '73. |

Yeah, Corky was omnipresent. But I'd nominate Wayne Wong as the most visible non-racer of the era. Any other names come to mind? Seth |

Corkey Fowler Frank, I was just going through some old magazines and was wondering the same thing. I did see him once at an exhibition, but couldn't tell you where he skied out of or where he worked. He sure had a lot of covers then. Maybe the best known 'non-racer' ski guy of the day. __________________ Skierpauli |
